MISSION STATEMENT

To empower registered veterinary nurses through professional regulation, academic advancement, and welfare advocacy, ensuring the highest standards of veterinary nursing to safeguard animal and public health in Ghana.

Mandate

1) To foster and promote the highest standards of veterinary
nursing primarily in Ghana;


2) To compile a register of qualified veterinary nurses, register them and confer the title ‘registered veterinary nurse’ on such nurses so registered, and renew such registration on an annual basis


3) To take steps to rid the country off unqualified persons parading as veterinary nurses


4) To take steps to ensure that the association and hence its
members gain international recognition


5) May prescribe dress codes for the various levels of the veterinary nurses per the scheme of service


6) Prescribe code of professional conducts for veterinary nurses

7) Prescribe skills and competence required for veterinary nurses


8) Ensure its members stay updated on current skills in veterinary nursing


9) May assist in the training of veterinary student nurses to acquire the minimum skills and competence required of a veterinary nurse


10) Liaise with veterinary student nurses’ associations to schedule practical and tutorial sessions with such students to complement their official training in school


11) Advise on core modules to be included in veterinary nursing programmes


12) Appraise universities on core course contents for given programmes
